Where has this year gone!!

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I wrote a blog post! Where has this last year gone?!

Just a short while ago we celebrated Wonky’s 1stBirthday in our new premises, and what a day it was! There had been lots ofpreparation ahead of the day and it was wonderful to see everything cometogether just as I had dreamed it would.

Our weekend of celebrations began with special guest Jo Avery running a class on the Saturday morning. A small group of 10 people attended and made a beautiful leaf brooch. Jo is extremely passionate about what she does, and it was so evident throughout the day. Everyone had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed learning from her. Jo then delivered her Aurifilosophy talk to a group of around 50 guests on the Sunday and shared lots of knowledge about the Aurifil thread we all know, love and use regularly. She shared a lot about the history of the thread and the way it can be used to achieve different looks on a range of projects.

Following Jo’s talk, guests were invited to enjoy a buffet made by Heather Skerven – a regular at Wonky with an incredible, endless list of talents which include cooking and baking! It looked amazing and tasted just marvellous!

Guests were then able to browse the products and enjoy a one day only discount across the store before taking away a goodie bag filled with gifts donated by Wonky’s kind suppliers and Jo Avery.

The whole day was a huge success, and it was lovely to be able to bring together people that shared common interests but had never had the chance to meet before. There was a real ‘buzz’ around the room through out the afternoon and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! It really was just a wonderful afternoon which was only made possible with the help of my army of family and friends that continue to support The Wonky Giraffe; ‘thankyou’ will never be enough.
