Welcome to ‘The Wonky Giraffe’; a dream that over the last year has grown into a wonderful reality!

My name is Louise and I live in the Scottish Borders with my husband and two dogs. I worked in Management Accounts for most of my life, but my passion has always been crafting. I can’t ever remember a time when I wasn’t making something – cards, wedding stationery, curtains, cushions, cross stitch, embroidery, knitting, quilting; the list is endless... as long as there’s not a dot of glitter in sight!

In 2020 I made the decision to pursue my passion and create an online needlework and quilting shop that would provide a range of high-quality needlework and quilting products for like-minded crafters. Alongside this, I opened a small workshop in Kelso; a place where you could browse the products in person before buying. In the first year of opening, the business has gone from strength to strength and I have recently relocated to a bigger, more spacious and accessible premises. I am just thrilled with the support that I have received, and am so grateful to be able to share what I know and love with others.

In addition to the online shop and workshop space, The Wonky Giraffe also organises and hosts a range of fun, creative craft classes, led by experienced instructors, for beginner and skilled sewers alike. I believe there is a real desire from people to learn new skills and techniques, but not always places and courses that offer that opportunity. As these skills have been increasingly dropped from school curriculums, learning is no longer passed from generation to generation as it once would have been and so there is a real opportunity for me to welcome people into this supportive, like minded crafting community and give them a chance to learn something new.
